Access Road to Puerto Antioquia

Puerto Bahía Colombia de Urabá

Advised the client on the legal structuring of a US$20 million project to construct the access road to Puerto Antioquia. Our work included negotiating an administrative agreement with the Government of Antioquia to facilitate the access route, structuring the funds-flow arrangement, EPC contracting, accreditation of the investment before the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), and accounting efficiencies. We also provided regulatory and commercial analysis and recommendations for the various stakeholders involved in the infrastructure project, including equity contributors and the road construction company.

IDB Publication on COVID-19 and Infrastructure PPPs

Inter-American Development Bank

Worked with the Inter-American Development Bank on the publication 'Impact of COVID-19 on Infrastructure Development in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Role of Public-Private Partnerships in Times of Crisis in the Region.' The publication seeks to: (i) present the principal impacts of COVID-19 on PPP contracts in the region; (ii) identify best practices based on lessons learned during the pandemic; and (iii) provide recommendations and identify future challenges for strengthening legal systems and contractual mechanisms available to address events of a similar magnitude.

IDB Publication on PPPs in Parks

Inter-American Development Bank

Participated in the preparation of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) publication 'PPPs in Parks in Latin America and the Caribbean: Findings and Practical Guide for Partnerships,' in collaboration with the IDB's Public-Private Partnerships team and Brazil's Semeia Institute. Our role involved extensive legal research on the legislation applicable to park PPPs in 25 Latin American and Caribbean jurisdictions, with the aim of providing public-sector stakeholders and governments with practical guidance on best practices for structuring such projects in the region.
