Alberto is an associate at JCD and focuses his practice on dispute resolution, including commercial and investment arbitrations involving Latin American companies and states.
He has experience in the oil and gas, mining, infrastructure, and telecommunications sectors. Before joining JCD, Alberto was an associate at Adell & Merizalde, a leading international arbitration firm in Latin America. There, he participated in arbitrations administered under the ICC, ICSID, and ICDR rules, as well as investment arbitrations. Previously, he worked as a law clerk at Dentons Cárdenas & Cárdenas, where he was part of the natural resources and energy team and gained experience in transactional matters.

Represented an investor in an investment dispute against a South American State under the Additional Protocol to the Pacific Alliance Framework Agreement, arising from adverse State measures affecting its investment in the hydrocarbon construction and services sector.
Merger of Aris Gold Corporation and GCM Mining
Aris Gold Corporation
Advised the client on its merger with GCM Mining Corp. Following completion of the merger, Aris Gold Corporation was renamed Aris Mining Corporation. The transaction involved GCM's direct and indirect acquisition of all outstanding Aris Gold shares not already owned by GCM.
ICDR Arbitration Concerning Telecommunications Infrastructure
Confidential client
Represented a telecommunications tower developer in a multi-party ICDR arbitration seated in New York against a financial institution concerning the performance and enforcement of an agreement for the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Latin America. Amount in dispute exceeded US$150 million.
